This Spec Miata cage features a NASCAR style doorbar, adjustable seat bracket, roof diagonal, unbent dashbar and optional 8th point that retains the factory dead pedal and attaches to the firewall.
The adjustable seat mounts were a special challenge with the design of the Kirkey seat. With the layback design and stamped holes mounting areas were limited.
A fair amount of headroom, legroom, left arm clearance and a fairly unobstructed view of the track.
The cage was completed in just over 3 weeks including TIG welded tube joints, seat mount and backbrace fabrication, and window net installation. Total cost for the the cage, seat bracket fab & installation and window net installation was under $1800. Look for the car at midwest division SCCA races starting in July, 2005.
