This Spec Miata is the latest cage project at Izzy's. It is being built to meet the owners specifications. The owner knew exactly what he wanted in the cage and provided detailed pictures of other Spec Miatas with features that he liked and didn't like.
The hoop is as tight as possible to the hardtop and uses only 4 bends (to retain the use of the 1.5"x.095 tubing). The top two bends are 85 deg. bends with two smaller bends under the harness bar to keep the hoop tucked away to the body. The front downbars and windshield crossbar are tucked away nicely as well allowing for plenty of headroom and great vision of the track.
The cage will be completed in 3 weeks including TIG welded tube joints, seat mount and backbrace fabrication, and window net installation.
