This Porsche 944 is being built to compete in the Porsche Club of America's GT Class. A partial mail order cage had been installed, but the owner opted for a completely custom cage.
The cage was first assembled to test fit all of the elements for the best fit and assembly. Once the entire cage was built, it was taken back apart and welded.
The cage used 1.5"x.095 1020 DOM for the main structure of the cage with 1/8" plate material for the pads. Triangulation elements and gussets were used and consisted of a mix of 1 3/8"x.095 and 1.5"x.065 for non structure elements.
