Izzy's Custom Cages - SCCA/NASA Mazda Spec Miata Roll Cage
St. Louis Region SCCA member Jim Easley brought us his Spec Miata project for a full cage installation as well as a seat install.
1.5"x.095 DOM was used for all of the main cage elements. All triangulation and non required bars use 1.5x.065 to keep weight to a minimum. A 3 bar NASCAR style bar was used on the drivers side to provide the most protection possible. Large "Taco" Gussets as well as a support tube were used on the drivers side A pillar to provide extra support at the bends in the event of a roll over.
The Ultrashield seats are very nicely made, however, the harness holes had to be raised about 1.25" to allow the harness' to come off of the shoulders properly. Brackets were also welded to the seat in order to form a trouble free mount that allowed for the most driver room.
