This '74 Ford Pinto came to our shop to get a custom cage installed for it's owners return to Club Racing with the SCCA.The 2.0L Pinto will compete in the Improved Touring B class.
The cage is a fairly straightforward IT 8 point. Multi-angled pads were used wherever they were needed to provide a stronger, stiffer chassis. Pad thickness varies depending on placement with thickness' from the minimum .080 to as heavy as 3/16's plate.
The owner chose not to punch through the dash with the cage bars, so we chose a design that would allow for the most room and access. The 8th point on the drivers side is placed to prevent intrusion into the footwell area. The opposite pad is placed to help with chassis stiffness and load transfer.
